Back in 1995, I completed my first aid certificate. I’d wanted to help people as an ambulance officer and I’d just learned about the Scheuermann’s disease in my back, it was my grandmother who found a position in the paper for a volunteer first aider which started to assist those in need at public duties. That desire allowed me to do 7 years with them, including the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
These days that now includes over 20 years in the emergency services field, over 30 years as a volunteer in some compacity.
I was unaware that I’d achieved that desire of being an ambulance officer through the first aid duties which I was part of. Over the years I’ve achieved my own dreams despite hearing comments re those goals.
Its time to keep following those desires and dreams, building that life that I want despite hearing those comments from the peanut gallery.
