What did learning to create a healthy lifestyle what did that teach?, well it taught a lot! Quite a lot really.
It taught just how much was unaware of and where was needing to work as a person.
Yet it also had a lot to do with being unaware of any other way of eating, it was a unknown the unhealthy diet growing up, dinners were 3 vegies and meat, as have said to wife Jenny countless times “Before getting control of own diet this was a food didn’t eat”…. There were a number of items on that list, yet it was just that the taste was such that failed to enjoy until much later in life. Then I gradually learnt to enjoy those foods.
As said there were so many lessons that needed to learn about a healthy lifestyle. During youth learnt tennis and was a little active, however it wasn’t encouraged it was just what it was. Unfortunately own parents were often too busy to do such, they were unable to afford such at all either. You wouldn’t see them being active in any way. That was a big lesson as it was that needed to change the way handled health. Yet that took a while to realize. These day’s Jenny and self will go out for a walk, spend a Sunday out on the town catching a bus and just go for a walk. We both go to the gym.
Anyway own health declined as was unaware of any other diet, any other way of living. That was just the example knew, that was all knew an inactive lifestyle, fast food, soft drink and very little fruit and vegies. I was lucky to 3 servings of vegies in one meal, lets see there may have been cheese, lettuce and tomato in dinner’s salad. Yet the main fruits loved were berries to this day it remains the same.
Anyway in 2006 I went to the Dr’s and that really was a wake up call. Although had been unhappy with weight for years the methods had been using failed to work fully, it wasn’t until that 4th dislocation and was told either “You lose weight or you may end up a diabetic or simular” Now that scared me. Own mother is a diabetic, yet these days her own health is still diabetic despite watching self-get health under control. That mum doesn’t want to change enough. That scare that occurred to myself has yet to happen with her.
From own family and their unhealthy lifestyle which personally lived for many years there was a number of lessons including on influences. A persons greatest influence is that who they are most around, yet when you are around those unhealthy people then you tend to be unhealthy yourself. That was a big lesson that need to get around those who were healthy. It didn’t mean going to the gym and sitting in the sauna just to lose weight. It meant going to the gym and doing the weights, it meant going to the gym and doing the cardio, attending pilaties classes and participating in such.
It meant being as physically active as could be to keep the weight down as a person. Living a lifestyle where worked for a fast food restaurant along with eating irregular meals and drinking tones of soft drink only helped to make the weight and health worse. Yet it wasn’t until 2006 when came to realize just what impact that such had really had on own life. Where used to buy a 1.25 ltr soft drink and it would be gone within 24 hours, these days its rare to drink any soft drink at all. These days own body rarely craves such.
That was what the power of nutrition and a healthier diet has done personally. Its assisted to become a stronger person and to keep on working towards such.
