Chapter 13 The Brain

CHAPTER 13
THE BRAIN: A BROADCASTING AND RECEIVING STATION FOR THOUGHT

The Twelfth Step toward Riches

The brain is an amazing tool. It looks much like a universe within that we can't see.

Everything we say, do, think, and feel is done with our brains.  The neurons form the connections of our thoughts.

The thoughts we place in our brain become beliefs whether they are true or not.  The brain has no opinions untill opinions are formed by thoughts.

When my son Shaun was learning how to write, his father's mother tried to force him to use his right hand to write.  I had to correct her thinking.  Her thoughts were that left handedness was associated with Satan.

Oh how my blood boiled with this thought!  Excuse me but please don't form these kinds of thoughts in my child's head!  And I immediately let her know that I was left handed.

This shut her down completely and she had nothing else to say.

Wives tales and lies are thoughts that people take on as beliefs.

And they affect peoples lives in dramatic ways.  If I had not corrected her thinking, my son would have been thinking badly about his tendency to use his left hand over his right hand. He might have given greater thought and made a decision for life that he was not a good person because he wants to use his left hand, just from a terrible belief that was passed into his brain.

The more we think we can't do or be something, the more our brain believes we can't do or be.   The more we think we can do or be something, the more our brain believes we can do or be.

Our brain makes these thought connections forming our beliefs.

And our brain connects these thoughts that affect our behavior.

Hill States, "The subconscious mind is the “sending station” of the brain, through which vibrations of thought are broadcast. The Creative Imagination is the “receiving set,” through which the vibrations of thought are picked up from the ether."

So to further understand the power of the brain, the brain is ours to program.  This is the awesome gift given to us by our creator. We get to decide about our lives and are given an immeasurable power to create our realities. We get the awesome ability to attract the universal energy provided to us.  It can be bad energy or good energy.  It's our choice.

That's it, we can change your lives by thinking and believing the good positive thoughts that affect your behavior.

That's why our self talk is necessary because our lives are full of many wives tales and lies as we were growing up and many of us have not become aware of them. And everyday we are bombarded with messages, good or bad, passing through our brains.  We are in charge of what we allow into our brain as thoughts we believe.  So being the keeper of our brain and guarding it is absolutely necessary if we are to grow and perform.  Guarding our mind allows us to become responsible for our lives and not letting others decide our lives for us.

Self examinations starts the process of emptying the bad thoughts and filling our minds with truth.

Once we do this, we're on our way to creating the kind of reality we believe in because it is our destiny to become who we are and decide what we believe.

What do we believe?

I hope for all of us here that we believe we can and we are!

I believe I am creating my reality now because I do my self talk and that my friends is the key to programing ourselves, changing our limiting beliefs to saying we can and we are creating our realities.

Much love and appreciation,

Have you ever noticed how much harder a task is when you're not really trying,
or when you think you can't do it? And how quickly your energy level can change
when you change your self talk?

One winter, more than 20 years ago, I was exhausted from caring for our older
three children, ages 2, 4 and 6, who had whooping cough. Our newborn was the
only one who hadn’t been immunized. She never got sick. After a week of caring
for the sick ones, I was exhausted. I remember nearly fainting in the kitchen one
night.

“I’m so tired,” I thought. “I feel like I’m coming down with it too.”

On the heels of that thought came another.

“I feel just fine!”

Like an electric shock, I was injected with a shot of energy. I could FEEL myself
stand up straight and strong, as I went to take care of my little ones.

I knew at the time it was a choice. I was a fork in the road. I could have given
in to the exhaustion and the illness, and I’m sure I would have, if I had listened
to the voice that told me how bad I felt. Instead, I listened to the one that told
me I was just fine. I never did get sick, and neither did the baby. A few days
the others were all up and running around, and I was able to get caught up on
my rest.

The brain is a broadcasting and receiving station for thought…..

Through the mental cleanse, I have learned to be careful of the words I speak.
I also know the vital importance of a good, positive self talk. On hot summer
days, our family likes to go swimming in the Pembina River. My favourite form
of exercise is to walk upstream against the current, at chest depth.

But that’s a little tricky this week. We’ve had a lot of heavy rain recently,
causing the river to rise and flow faster than normal. The bottom is unfamiliar,
and with waterlogged branches in unexpected places. Last evening I was feeling
unsure of myself, fearful of what I couldn’t see, and overly cautious in taking
each step forward.

“Why am I so tired?” I thought. “I’ve only gone a short distance.”

And right away, it struck me. I felt that way BECAUSE I was afraid and being
overly cautious. Every step was an effort because I was hanging back. I soon
discovered the river bottom wasn’t nearly as bad as I had imagined.

Gaining confidence had the same sort of effect on me as the “electric shock”
in my kitchen on that long ago winter night. This time it struck me that feeling
tired wasn’t even something I had actually SAID to myself… it was just a feeling!
A feeling born of fear of the unknown. The moment I realized that, I was able
to finish my river walk with energy and pleasure.

It’s such a little thing… just change what you’re saying to yourself! A little
thing that will change your life. It’s the only way you will change what you
say out loud, AND what the deepest part of your subconscious is saying to you.

1.   The weight of the human brain is about 3 lbs. 50 pounds per horsepower.
We might be a little slow in catching up ? 1908 model T Ford  60 pounds per horsepower. But a 2009 Harley cruiser motorcycle 11 pounds per horsepower. While a Corvette is as little as 7 pounds per horsepower. The animal with the largest brain-size-to-body-size ratio is the hummingbird.
2.   Your skin weighs twice as much as your brain.
Your feelings might be more important than you think ?
3.   The brain is made up of about 75% water.
Babies have as much or more percent of water as the brain does but you can’t say us oldies are all washed up; in reality we are all dried out, only 50 to 60 percent water.
4.   There are no pain receptors in the brain, so the brain can feel no pain.
We shouldn’t, but lots of times we let that unfeeling attitude get out into the world around us.
5.   The first sense to develop while in utero is the sense of touch. The lips and cheeks can experience touch at about 8 weeks and the rest of the body around 12 weeks.
Still the focal point of feelings . . .
6.   Your brain uses 20% of the total oxygen in your body.
Hence, fresh air and exercise !
7.   While awake, your brain generates up to 40 watts of power–enough to power a light bulb.
And you wonder where we got the light bulb above the head for an idea.
8.   Memories triggered by scent have a stronger emotional connection, therefore appear more intense than other memory triggers.
Wish I had a better sense of smell. Note the emotional connection !
9.   The average number of thoughts that humans are believed to experience each day is 70,000.
No comment . . .
10.   Aristotle mistakenly (?) thought that the functions of the brain actually took place in the heart.
‘Actually’ if you study the Bible you can find every function that we attribute to the brain also attributed to the heart.

“Through much of history, the mind was thought to be separate from the brain. Even for present-day neuroscience, the mechanisms by which brain activity gives rise to consciousness and thought remain very challenging to understand: despite rapid scientific progress, much about how the brain works remains a mystery.”

We know all sorts of interesting facts but there is still a whole lot that we do not know about the brain. We recommend that you try using it. This is where we learn how to think, not what to think.

There has to be more to us than we think, whether it is actually localized in the brain or not, we have this uncanny ability to communicate in a non physical (or supra physical) way. People keep going back to that phrase from the movie “if you do it he will come”; well, if you learn the principles we are studying, the broadcasting and receiving will be there when you need it.
