Ken Klemm Persistance

Everybody is PERSISTENT.

We all are Creatures of HABIT. Our Habits, up to now,
have determined our current health, relationship and
financial status.

So, in order to change our Status, we must change our
HABITS.

But, we are RESISTANT to Change! We Persist in our Bad
Habits. Perhaps “persist” is the wrong word. As some
writers have pointed out this week, our true state is
COMPLACENT.

Here’s how it is for some of us: If we were cold, wet
and miserable stuck in a mud bog - and someone offered
to move us to a warm, dry and pleasant place - we would
resist the change. We would miss the mud!

Success requires REPLACING some Old Habits with New
Habits.

Many companies today offer products that help burn fat.
They are designed to be meal REPLACEMENTS. That means
using the product INSTEAD of chicken nuggets and french
fries, NOT in addition to.

On our Saturday night Coaches Corner call we are
learning PEOPLE SKILLS to improve our RELATIONSHIPS.
That means Replacing some Habits. We Replace the Habit
of Criticizing, Condemning and Complaining with the
Habit of Giving Honest and Sincere Appreciation. We
Replace the habit of Focusing on Ourselves and Our
Agenda with the Habit of Becoming Genuinely Interested
in Other People.

But this Training DOES NOT WORK. We do not Learn by
reading, listening and studying. We can only learn by
EXPERIENCE. If we do not PRACTICE the SKILLS, we will
never MASTER them!

Most people join a Network Marketing company to earn
extra income and work toward Financial Freedom. But
Financial Freedom is not achieved without changing some
HABITS.

Recently a top income earner was terminated by his
company. He posted a heart-rending video on YouTube
about how he has to feed his family and care for his
90-year-old father.

One would think a top earner would have achieved
Financial Freedom. But he apparently never REPLACED the
HABIT of SPENDING with the HABIT of SAVING.

Keith Schreiter wrote an excellent book, “How to Get
Rich Without Winning the Lottery.” He demonstrates the
POWER of Investment. He shows how Network Marketing is
one of the ways an average person can earn extra income
to INVEST.

CHAPTER 9: PERSISTENCE
Persistence means pushing past the point of no return so that you HAVE to
keep going because there is no turning back.
I have gotten lazy in the past few years, allowing some unwanted weight to
creep back on, and just generally regressing from a much better point I'd
reached nine years ago. I can make excuses and say I've been through a lot,
especially in the past three years. But haven't we all??? That is no excuse,
particularly when I have also been given some of the greatest tools I've ever
found, through Mentoring For Free. Tools not only for coping with trouble, but
for facing it and gaining victory over it.
Ian bought me a brand new bicycle a few weeks ago. We live halfway down
a hill. Handy excuse for not taking that first ride! The way to conquer that
hill is to ride a little further each day until I reach the top. The rest is easy!
Well, sort of. On Saturday I decided that my "slight edge" action was a little
TOO "slight". Instead of riding half a mile a day and going farther each day,
I was doing half a mile once a WEEK. We had already spent all Saturday
afternoon outdoors at our church picnic, but when we got home that evening,
I hopped on the bike and rode all the way up the hill and beyond. A total of
two miles!
I wasn't able to get on the bike again until today. The only time I could go
out was during the hottest part of the day -- 90 degrees!! But I had to do
it. Persistence meant going all the way to the two mile point, knowing I would
have to turn around and ride another two miles to get back home. Persistence
meant pedaling just one more time before getting off to walk the rest of the
way up the hill.
On the blistering hot days of summer, our favourite way of cooling off is to
drive seven miles to the river. The water is a little high right now, and the
current is strong. It's fun floating downstream 500 feet, and swimming across
the current toward the bank. Persistence means walking upstream against
the 6mph current to the starting point... and then doing the same thing
several more times.
Persistence is paying off. Not by actual weight loss. I haven't seen much of
that yet. But my body fat percentage, BMI and skeletal muscle percentages
have all improved just in the past week alone. Now THAT makes me WANT to
persist all the way to my goal!
It's the same with my business. Persistence means working when I don't feel
like it, taking one more step when I think I can't do it, and looking back to see
after a while that growth is indeed taking place. And that will make me want
to keep on going until I have achieved each of all my goals.

Chapter 9- PERSISTENCE
This subject of PERSISTENCE is tied directly to DESIRE. So, if we have an unshakeable DESIRE and a solid “WHY”, is that enough? This past Monday on the leaders call the subject of people quitting came up and I heard many reasons why people quit:
• People quit on themselves
• The product is too expensive
• This is taking too long “ARE WE THERE YET?” (Bart Simpson)
• My up-line doesn’t support me
• I don’t know how to do this
• I have fears of sales, talking to people, rejection, dealing with hassles, success
• I have to teach others
• Too much time out of my schedule
• Customers leave my business
• Partners quit
• I am a computer illiterate
So, yes I will agree with you that this business takes PERSITENCE. After all a couple of the definitions of the word is: 1 quality of persisting, the quality of continuing steadily despite problems or difficulties, 2 act of persisting, the action of somebody who persists with something. This means to me, ACTION. There is a whole chapter in this book that speaks to this topic. Action is a verb. Take each one of the reasons for quitting above and turn them into positive statements. This will make it easier to PERSIST, or take action. However, I don’t think that is enough.
I would like to throw out another word that speaks to the verb PERSISTENCE, and that is RESILLIENCE. The first definition of this word is: 1 speedy recovery from problems, the ability to recover quickly from setbacks. Now take a look at the reasons listed above and find the emotions that are tied to each one of these setbacks when they happen to you. Dig deep here because if you can’t get emotionally detached from the ACTION of others, you probably will lose your momentum, or PERSISTENCE.
I think that PERSISTENCE is action and it is required. I don’t believe that we attach any emotion to it. RESILIENCE however is all about emotion. Be careful of your thoughts and emotions the next time life throws a little curve at you.
Thanks for letting share my thoughts about these important topics.

CHAPTER 9
PERSISTENCE
THE SUSTAINED EFFORT NECESSARY TO INDUCE FAITH
The Eighth Step toward Riches
Most people or should I say a lot of people, including myself, have developed a mindset of poverty.
The main cause of this mindset is that they never created the habit of Persistence.
The poverty consciousness will come to us because we have created bad habits which we are very comfortable with and which dominate our lives into a constant daily routine.
We must slowly but definitely rid ourselves of all these bad habits one at a time until they are replaced with good habits.
This is where Persistence must help us in ridding our lives of the bad habits which keep us in our poverty mindset.
We become complacent and resistant to change. If we do show some change, we may do it for a short period of time then go back to our old selves.
Persistence will take us from a poverty mindset to a money consciousness mindset.
We cannot just start something new and try it for a week or a month or three months and then stop doing it forever.
We must continue creating good habits until they become part of our life.
We cannot start a diet and do it for a week or a month or 3 months and then stop.
A diet is a change of a lifestyle. It is replacing something which we love to eat with something else.
We must get into the good habit of getting e-Book downloads.
We must get into the good habit of following up with the people who have downloaded the e-Book.
We must strive to learn new skills.
We must strive to be a better person.
All of our goals can be reached if and only if we can get rid of out bad “comfortable” habits and replace them all with good money consciousness habits as mentioned above.
It only will be the habit of persistence which will keep us into doing the good habits which we tend to start but fail to continue until they become a part of our lives and therefore a part of me.
We Love to all the members of this awesome Mastermind Group and thanks to all the mentors who help us daily keep with our persistence to become stars in this beautiful Network Marketing industry.
Special thanks go out to Michael and Linda for always believing in every one of us.
