Subconscious Mind
Do you remember the fairy tales from your childhood?
Of course you do. There are plenty of.
Oh, I am especially referring to those dealing with a Lady Bountiful or a genie in a bottle granting us three wishes to be fulfilled. I really liked those stories and as a child I was prepared for the very moment, having my top three wishes already well formulated.
But nothing happened. Nobody ever appeared asking me for them.
Really? Can I be sure of that?
Of course I have learnt to be rational, to distinguish between a fairy tale and the seriousness of reality. But can it be I have missed something?
Looking back to my life some really remarkable coincidences happened or shall I say some wishes have become reality? Well, sometimes I wouldn't call them wishes, rather apprehensions or worries. So obviously it works both ways.
But something really flattened me when I thought about it later on and gave me creeps when I read this book. Either I could predict the future quite precise or the “mechanisms” mentioned by Hill really work.
In Summer 96 my long term relationship to a woman came to an end. It really struck me hard. This wasn't only because we had made so many plans for our future, for our family we wanted to have. At that time I was in my early thirties and all of my friends already having a family, something I always dreamt of. Now I felt like my dream was perished, because I would be unable to find a woman to start a family with.
Yes, it was fear that was gnawing at me. It came to my mind that either the woman would be “too old” (until we finally would get married) to have kids or the difference in age between the two of us would be too big to give the marriage a chance of survival. And on, and on, and on...
So, giving up? - Never!
Thus I went out together with friends and also started something I called a direct search. This included also the lonely hearts column, just to silence my consciousness by having done everything possible. When planning all this I imagined it would take me a full year to be successful.
For a year nothing really moved. Plenty of acquaintances but nothing that caused heartthrob. Depressing.
Exactly one year later – I mean exactly, ritht to the date – my subconscious delivered with an unbelievingly high precision.
It struck me unprepared!
It all started with a response to one of my adverts and I called back (if it was only not to blame myself afterwards of not having done so) and the call lasted more than five times as long as any phone call in my life before!
We arranged to meet the next day and it was (how it says in Sleepless in Seattle?) like magic. My dream became true. We got married in less than a year and she as well as four wonderful kids enrich my life now.
While talking (we still enjoy spending an evening talking to have everything settled what may have happened during the day) we found out we could have met half a year earlier and just missed by a “coincidence”. With all that I am knowing today I could have shortened my suffering, by simply set a much earlier date to make it happen.
What an insight!
Thus I have learnt it really can make a difference and its wise to guard my thoughts and emotions. The genie will deliver, for the good or for the bad.
I for myself have a strong intention, no, a commitment to learn how to control my imagination and my emotions to carefully select my wishes I present to the Lady Bountiful alias subconscious mind.
In gratefulness and expectation

To see how this lesson has played out in the life of Napoleon Hill and Michael
Dlouhy read on.
The subconscious mind responds like a well-trained soldier when it comes
to following commands. It has no motive to distinguish between right or
wrong, it simply does as it's told without question.
Wouldn't it be awesome if we could get everybody to see things our way
and thus follow our lead without question?   When you learn the subconscious
mind is susceptible to the power of influence based on the deliberate
programing of individuals through all forms of media you can own the world.
In looking back on Sex Transmutation in Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow
Rich he talks about using the emotions associated with sex & love to propel
one to greater achievements.
Most people don’t know that Hill was married to two different women during
his life time. Hill, married his first wife Florence Elizabeth Hornor, in June 1910.
By all accounts, Hill loved his wife and enjoyed being a father. Yet, by late 1912,
the growing belief that his fame and fortune still lay out there Hill move to Chicago.
When President Franklin Delano Roosevelt asked Hill to join the staff of his
National Recovery Administration to help inspire public confidence, he accepted.
This notion , closed the door on the marriage and in 1935, they were divorced.
In early 1937, Hill met 29-year-old Rosa Lee Beeland. They married a few months
later and she labored with him on his next manuscript, a work he tentatively called
The Thirteen Steps to Riches. After months of editing and rewriting, he showed
the completed manuscript to his publisher, who finally agreed to publish it, and the
new book went to press as Think and Grow Rich, and became Hill’s greatest work.
My point in sharing this story related to the previous chapter is because so
many people go through life believing that somebody or something is derailing
or holding them back from achieving their goals. This belief is programing the
subconscious mind for failure. If something is actually holding you back, then
you have a serious decision to make. You either stick with it to make the best
of the situation or you make a decision to move forward on the game board
to win at the game of life.
Napoleon Hill is living proof that making a decision to move forward made all
the difference in the world for him and his life's work.
My mentor Michael Dlouhy and his wife Linda are perfect example of a couple
who have programed their subconscious minds for success by applying the
principles described in Think and Grow Rich. They have programed their lives
for success by saying their self-talk and edifying and motivating each other
to succeed because they are ALL IN… Love together. How will you take
control of your subconscious mind?
Prosperous Regards,
Frank LooSer

Chapter 12.  The Subconscious Mind
The Connecting Link
THE ELEVENTH STEP TOWARD RICHES
The Subconscious Mind is the storehouse, the filing
cabinet for every impulse of thought and feeling that has
come to it through all our six (6) senses, regardless of their
nature, regardless of whether we even want them stored
or not.
You may voluntarily plant anything into your subconscious
yourself.  Quite often we voluntarily place unneeded
thoughts there out of our anger doubt and fear.  If you will
be open and honest with yourself you’ll realize you have
been doing this all your life
You can also voluntarily plant thoughts with positive
meaningful purpose.  Our subconscious acts first on the
dominating thoughts that have been mixed with emotion
and feeling.
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to be angry, to doubt
your ability, to think that others can be successful at
Network Marketing “but not me”, to be fearful of making
contact with a prospect and worse not following up once
you have, procrastination and more…This type of thought
activity is infused with emotion and feeling.
Have you ever noticed how all these thoughts and feelings
seem like they just show up and take no effort to think or
feel…I can tell you this, it is a natural occurrence, it does not
take effort but it does “take”, robs us of our power.  It is
our nature because it is what we have been taught
generation after generation and what we will pass on if we
do not stop it here.  We can stop it; it does not matter our
age.  We can pass on a new legacy of thought and
manifest our desires to offer proof.  We do not have to
show and tell.  We just have to do.
The question is, “If this is true, then what can I do?”
Napoleon Hill tells us in this chapter, “we cannot entirely
control our subconscious mind, but we can voluntarily hand
over to it any plan, desire, or purpose which we wish
transformed into concrete form.  Read, again the
instructions for using the subconscious mind, in the
chapter on autosuggestion.
Once you understand the subconscious mind and the
possibility of this medium transmuting your personal
desires into their physical equivalent you will begin to
understand the chapter on “Desire” and the “SIX STEPS”
listed in that chapter necessary to develop the burning
desire, the passion and emotion required to cause you to
persist in your quest.
Hill says the thirteen principles will help you acquire the
ability to reach and influence your subconscious mind.  He
goes on to say, “do not be discouraged if you cannot do
this on your first attempt.  You have not had time to master
“Faith” be patient.”
Most people in network marketing have read “Think &
Grow Rich”.  I ask almost every contact I make in this
industry if they have, and almost to a person the reply is,
“Yes, I read that ONCE.”  Hill states in another chapter it
might require that you read these principles several times.
You need to feed your mind daily, just like your body.  You
don’t eat healthy food just once and call it good, thinking it
will sustain your body, no, you feed it several times daily.
Nor can you read these thirteen principles once and think it
will sustain the necessary elements of your mind to propel
you to manifest your hearts desire.  You must feed your
“Mind” daily.
At “Mentoring for Free" among our ten free live interactive
skills calls and personal mentoring we study the Thirteen
Principles of Think & Grow Rich.  Participants of the book
study write a personal review of their lesson learned
regarding the weekly chapter and principle.  We voluntarily
post this to our forum and share our thoughts live and
interactive several times a week.  This is called a Master
Mind group, Principle 9 chapter 10.  Maybe the most
amazing thing I’ve found is the only cost for this and the
personal mentoring I receive is my time to participate.
I discovered this forum, first by reading the book “Success
in 10 Steps” written by network marketing legend Michael
Dlouhy.  I contacted the person who shared the book with
me and the results of this relationship to my personal
growth and prosperity have been extraordinary.
Just remember, your subconscious mind does not stay
idle, you must tend it, plant the thoughts you want in it and
weed out the others.  The following YouTube video link
titled “Stop It” by comedian Bob Newhart will give you a
simple unique and genuine idea of how to take control
back.  It is entertaining, humorous but ever so true
http://tinyurl.com/2fy6fn (copy & paste to your browser).
As a network marketer you are trying to take control of
your life rather than be controlled be sources outside of
you.  To do so you must prepare yourself to control your
inner audience.  You must understand the method of
approach.  You must speak its language Hill says.
“The negatives voluntarily inject themselves into the
thought impulses, which insure passage into the
Subconscious Mind.  The “Positives MUST be Injected”,
through the principle of Auto-Suggestion, into the thought
impulses which an individual wishes to pass on to their
subconscious mind.”
That's how it works!

Stay Focused on the Big Picture by Harvey Mackay

Stay Focused on the Big Picture by Harvey Mackay

A reader once sent me an email thanking me for a column I had written on getting outside the box. She told me how she had lost focus for a while, but had turned things around. She encouraged me to write a column on staying focused.

I immediately thought of my varsity golfing days at the University of Minnesota many years ago. Back then The Saint Paul Open was one of the top tournaments on the men’s professional golf circuit. Prior to the tournament, I had a chance to meet Gary Player when he was taking a lesson from our team coach, Les Bolstad. Later that evening I went to dinner with the world’s future No. 1 player when he was still an unknown.

The following day at The Saint Paul Open, I saw Gary after he teed off the first hole and ran up to him to say hi. I wanted to tell him what a great time I had the night before. His steely eyes remained focused on the fairway ahead and he never broke stride. “Harvey, please don’t talk to me. I must concentrate. I will see you when I’m finished.”
I remember how devastated I felt, but I learned a valuable lesson on focus. Many years later, when he was world famous, my wife, Carol Ann, and I ran into Gary and his wife in South Africa. I reintroduced myself and reminded him of what happened on the golf course. Gary’s wife told me, “Don’t feel bad. He doesn’t even talk to me on the golf course.”

That’s the focus that it takes to do your best. If you have the ability to focus fully on the task at hand, and shut out everything else, you can accomplish amazing things.

Arnold Palmer, another golfing legend, recalled a tough lesson he learned about focus in Carol Mann’s book The 19th Hole:

It was the final hole of the 1961 Masters tournament, and I had a one-stroke lead and had just hit a very satisfying tee shot. I felt I was in pretty good shape. As I approached my ball, I saw an old friend standing at the edge of the gallery. He motioned me over, stuck out his hand and said, “Congratulations.” I took his hand and shook it, but as soon as I did, I knew I had lost my focus. On my next two shots, I hit the ball into a sand trap, then put it over the edge of the green. I missed a putt and lost the Masters. You don’t forget a mistake like that; you just learn from it and become determined that you will never do that again. Trust me, your friends will understand!

A response Babe Ruth once gave to a reporter sticks in my mind: “How is it,” the Babe was asked, “that you always come through in the clutch? How is it you can come up to bat in the bottom of the 9th, in a key game with the score tied, with thousands of fans screaming in the stadium, with millions listening on the radio, the entire game on the line and deliver the game winning hit?” His answer, “I don’t know. I just keep my eye on the ball.”

In other words: Focus.

How many times have you heard an athlete talk about focus? It’s a topic I also hear about frequently in business. The most common complaints?

Too many irons in the fire. Too many projects spinning at one time. Too many interruptions. Too many phone calls. Too many emails. Too many things to do. Too little time.

The late Peter Drucker, management consultant and author, observed, “When you have 186 objectives nothing gets done. I always ask, ‘What’s the one thing you want to do?’ In Mexico they call me Senor Una Cosa.” (Translation: Mister One Thing)

Decide what’s most important. Make a list every day or every week and prioritize your activities. Scale back the amount of time you spend on meetings; they can be the biggest time-wasters of all. Learn to delegate, and make sure all members of your team follow through on assigned tasks.

Set aside a specific time of day to return phone calls and emails, and keep distractions to a minimum. In other words, set rules about how others use your time. And if you’re not the boss, work with your supervisor to make sure you agree on priorities.

Stay focused as best you can, and don’t let things happen to you—not when you can make things happen.

Mackay’s Moral: The person who is everywhere is nowhere.

From Jim Rohn's newsletter a wonderful article on focus by Harvey Mackay. Thank you for this wonderful reminder, about being there.
