My Non-Negotiable: Surrounding Myself with JOY (Chronic Illness & My Tribe) ❤️
"Surround yourself with those who make you happy." This isn't just a nice sentiment; it's a vital strategy for thriving when you live with a disability or chronic condition. For me, and for many in our community of entrepreneurs, network marketers, and parents (mumpreneurs, dadpreneurs!) building better lives, this is a non-negotiable.
When your energy is often limited, and you're navigating physical challenges or pain, you simply can't afford to be around people or situations that drain you. Toxic relationships, negative influences, or even well-meaning but unsupportive individuals can have a profound impact on your mental, emotional, and even physical health.
I've learned to intentionally cultivate a "happiness bubble" by choosing: * Uplifting friends & family: Those who understand, encourage, and celebrate my journey. * Supportive mentors & colleagues: Fellow network marketers, entrepreneurs, and direct sales pros who inspire growth and genuinely care. * Positive online communities: Spaces where my experiences are validated, and solutions are shared. * Joyful environments: Spaces that bring peace and energy, rather than stress.
This intentional curation of my circle isn't selfish; it's self-preservation. It's how I protect my precious energy, fuel my resilience, and empower myself to keep going, transform my health, nurture my family, and build my business. Who you surround yourself with profoundly shapes your life. Choose joy. Choose support. Choose growth. Who are the people in your life who truly make you happy and lift you up? Tag them or give them a shout-out in the comments below! Let's celebrate our supportive tribes! 👇

The Most Misunderstood Chapter in "Think and Grow Rich" (And Why It's a Lifeline for Entrepreneurs with Chronic Illness)
Let's be honest. When you're reading through a classic, powerful book like "Think and Grow Rich," you hit Chapter 11, "The Mystery of Sex Transmutation," and you probably pause. The language is dated, the concept feels a bit strange, and it’s easy to wonder, "What on earth does this have to do with building my business?"
Iknow I did. For years, I skimmed it, unsure how to apply its peculiar message to my life. Even what could use the energy for. Especially a life shaped by a disability, chronic health conditions, and the constant, grinding financial stress that comes with them. When your daily reality is a gamble on physical energy and a battle against medical bills, a chapter like this can feel worlds away.
But I was wrong. In fact, I now believe this is one of the most vital chapters for people like us. Why? Because when you can't rely on physical "hustle," you must learn to tap into a different, more powerful source of energy.
Decoding the "Weird" Chapter: It's Not What You Think
Let's strip away the 1930s language. Napoleon Hill isn't just talking about physical intimacy. He's talking about the most powerful, primal, creative force we possess as human beings: our life force energy. It's the source of passion, creativity, enthusiasm, and intense desire. "Transmutation" simply means changing that powerful energy from one form to another.
Think of it like this: It's the fire in your belly. It's that deep, gut-level desire for a better life—for financial security, for freedom from the stress of medical debt, for the ability to provide for your family without sacrificing your health. That feeling is not just an emotion; it's a potent form of energy.
The Misguided Search: When Creative Energy Stays Physical
Before we go further, it's crucial to understand what happens when this powerful energy isn't transmuted. Hill observed that individuals with a high drive, if they don't channel it into a mission or creative pursuit, often direct it solely towards its most basic physical expression.
In today's world, this can manifest as a constant search for sex and fleeting hookups instead of building a truly loving, supportive relationship. It's not a moral failing; it's a symptom of a powerful, undirected creative force. The body is seeking an outlet, a release for this intense internal energy. While this might provide a temporary distraction, it ultimately dissipates and wastes the very fuel that could be used to build lasting wealth, deep fulfillment, and a partnership that amplifies your power.
From Passion to Reality: Channeling Your Energy for Any Goal
For those of us with chronic conditions, our physical energy is often unpredictable. This is where the magic of "transmutation" becomes your universal lifeline—for your finances, your health, and your biggest dreams.
On Transforming Your Finances:
Financial stress creates its own potent, chaotic energy. It’s the jolt of adrenaline when you see an unexpected bill, the low-grade hum of anxiety about your bank balance. Left unchecked, it spirals into panic. But if you learn to harness it, you turn fear into fuel. When that gut-punch of seeing a medical bill arrives, you can transmute that jolt of panic into a plan of action—one hour of focused, income-producing work that moves you forward.
On Health Transformation and Weight Loss:
This same principle is the key to transforming your physical well-being. The desire to feel better, to have more energy for your kids, or to shed weight that's exacerbating your health conditions is a powerful, primal force. You transmute this desire into action by channeling the frustration of your physical limitations into the fierce discipline of sticking to your nutrition plan. You use the deep love for your family to fuel your motivation for gentle exercise, even on days when it feels impossible. This transmuted passion becomes your internal personal trainer, pushing you to make choices that serve your long-term health.
On Acquiring Your Car or House:
A new car or a dream house are not just material objects; they are symbols of freedom, security, stability, and success. The intense desire for what these things represent is a colossal source of energy. You don't just "wish" for a new car. You transmute the passionate desire for the freedom that car represents into the focused work, the creative business strategies, and the consistent daily actions that generate the income to acquire it. That house or car becomes the tangible, physical proof of your successfully channeled passion.
The Charisma Conundrum: When Your Affection is 'Too Much'
A fascinating side effect of transmuting this energy is the development of intense charisma and a deep, genuine affection for people. When you're fired up about your mission, it spills out. You might be someone who naturally offers a supportive hug, writes encouraging notes, or expresses friendship through gestures like holding hands. But have you ever had these gestures of warmth fall flat, or worse, make someone visibly uncomfortable? This often happens when your high-frequency, passionate energy meets someone else's more guarded state. Their reaction is rarely about you—it’s about their own comfort levels. The takeaway isn't to become cold, but to learn to read the room and not dim your light just because it's too bright for some.
My Personal Lesson on Channeling My Drive
I'd spent years working on building better friends and relationships often to be pushed away when shared my own affection whether it was friendship or romance often I was someone who cared deeply about others but it was taken advantage of by those in my life from my best friend stealing my wallet and a week's wages. I'd share a interest in someone who saw as the wrong way.
I was a emotional person who wanted to connect with others, even help them. it took many years and many people to find those right people for my life.
I spent many nights working on building friendships and searching for the right partner. Often meeting with those who really sought a one night, a bed buddy more than a relationship. It wasn't until years later that I found that my own lack of success wasn't my fault as I'd never learned the skills for relationships.
I had learned my family's old habits from relationships to finichial skills. It took years to overcome such. Even now, those old attitudes are still present in their lives. Many of my family members still struggle to understand that I am working for myself and a volunteer. Their energy is in the old school system of working for someone else. That they believe it is how you earn a living in this world. They also believe in the system of the dad being the main provider for the house.
There have been many times when my own father was unable to accept this. He even said what job to me when I was an entrepreneur and working a volunteer role. There have been many times when the bills have piled up, and its been paying as can. I have to just pay as can. It's been part of my own emotional journey becoming a better person than once knew.
At times, I've heard family members screaming because they had no money. A lot of it had been spent on upgrades to appliances, furniture, and more after a divorce house settlement rather than keeping the furniture, which was doing OK.
I've spent years working on my health and transforming it from a very unhealthy lifestyle to greatly improved life where i am eating healthier and exercising more than ever saw from family growing up. With family continuing with their own emotional energy towards an unhealthy lifestyle and diet.

The Real Question: How Much Time Are You Investing in YOU? (My Chronic Illness Perspective)
"I am just curious, how much time do you spend working on yourself to become that person that you want to be? Is it hours a week, is it hours per day, or is it hardly anything?" - Mentor Ben Drake This question from my mentor always makes me pause and reflect deeply. As someone navigating life with a disability and chronic condition, committed to transforming my life, health, and business, "working on myself" isn't a luxury – it's a non-negotiable.
For entrepreneurs, network marketers, parents (mumpreneurs, dadpreneurs!), and healthy individuals, we all have a vision of our best self: * The resilient leader. * The patient, present parent. * The thriving, healthy individual. * The successful business owner.
Nut that person doesn't just happen. It's built, intentionally, one moment at a time. My journey often means: * Adapting my self-care: Prioritizing rest, gentle movement, and mental health even when energy is low. * Consistent learning: Audiobooks during rest, short courses when I can focus. * Mindset work: Daily affirmations and gratitude to counter pain or fatigue. * Strategic planning: Leveraging my limited energy for high-impact growth.
The amount of time might vary day-to-day due to my health, but the commitment to constant self-improvement is unwavering. It's how I ensure I'm always moving towards becoming the best version of myself, not just for me, but for my family and my mission.
So, I'm genuinely curious: Where do you stand? How much time are YOU investing in becoming the person you truly want to be?
Be honest with yourself (and share if you're comfortable!). Hours a day, hours a week, or hardly anything? Let's discuss our commitment to self-growth below! 👇
