Stop Pushing People Away: The Real Cost of "Hard Selling"
For years, I followed the "scripts." I was trained to sell, to push the deal, and to assume that everyone needed what I had. I treated every conversation like a transaction, rushing to the pitch before I even knew the person’s name. The result? I flushed thousands down the toilet. 🚽💸
But the financial loss wasn't even the worst part. The biggest cost was that it stopped me from being myself and stopped me from building real friendships. I became a robotic version of a "businessman," hiding my true personality behind polished lines. Instead of making friends, I was making "prospects," and in the process, I lost the trust of those around me.
I burnt bridges and felt the frustration of hearing "no" over and over again. It’s exhausting for the seller and annoying for the family man or busy parent just trying to manage their day.
As a Dadpreneur, I realized that the "hard sell" actually destroys the very thing we need to succeed: genuine connection. When you stop treating people like a commission check and start showing up as your real self—especially for those of us navigating life with chronic conditions or disabilities—the entire game changes.
