My major turning point happened in 1994. As a teenager, I was diagnosed with a severe back injury. At the time, the digital infrastructure we take for granted today simply didn’t exist. There were no turn-key online businesses or automated systems. Most people handle financial or physical setbacks by searching for an immediate external fix. They remain caught in a cycle of trading physical time and energy for a basic paycheck—whether that looks like traditional manual labor or spending hours behind the wheel of a rideshare vehicle just to keep the lights on.
But active labor means your income stops the moment your body needs rest. True independence requires a profound shift in how you view your primary assets.
Your Mind is the Ultimate Asset
In Chapter 1 of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill outlines a timeless truth: Thoughts are things. When you hit a physical limit, your intellect, strategy, and focus must step in to become your primary income-producing asset. You have to stop viewing yourself as a day-laborer and start viewing yourself as an asset builder.
