Mr Hill stated there two kinds of a knowledge one is General the other specialized . Here is a story of a man who could not read,his name is Fred. Fred had trouble finding a job ,but finally got one as a -garbage man ,on his first day on the job the boss give him a written list of addresses were he had to pick up garbage.Fred look at the list despondently "I can't read" he confess to his boss well"said the boss" if you can't read you can't be a garbage man, he felt sorry for Fred so he handed him some bananas and wish him good luck.FRED went to sit on the park bench and think about what next,he set the bananas on the bench beside him. A man came along and asked Fred if he would sell him a banana for five cent ,Fred sold the man the banana.
Thinking about what just happened Fred place the rest of the bananas in a more noticeable position , before an hour pass he sold all of his bananas. In fact the demands was so high he raise the price to 10 cents for the last two bananas.
Fred decided to go down to the grocery store to buy as many bananas as he could with the money from his sales,back to the park bench he went. Every day through the summer he went to the park and sold bananas then he started selling different fruit,soon he found a place for himself at the gate of the park,Fred made more money than he ever had.
Some years pass and Fred found himself in the Board room of a major company to which he was selling his business which had grown to be one of the biggest food distribution companies in the United States,his company was worth hundreds of millions dollars,finally the document were ready to sign, the lawyers put then in front of Fred for him to read.
"I can't read Fred said and slide the documents over to his lawyers. The purchaser couldn't believe his ears,here you are a successful business man and can't read,just imagine what you could have been if you could of read.Fred pause for a minute and said, i know what i could have been "A GARBAGE MAN".
An educated man is one who has developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire anything he wants,or it's equivalent,without violating the rights of others."Some people falsely believe that 'knowledge is power".It is nothing of the sort!Knowledge is only potential power.It become power only when, and if, it is organized into definite plans of action and directed to a definite end .

The Fourth Step toward Riches

Knowledge, there are two types of knowledge, General and Specialized. General knowledge is freely available to all and can be found in the Educational Institutes and the Personal and Public Libraries around the world. It is taught in our schools and universities by teachers, lecturers and professors who have great knowledge but do not teach how to organize and use knowledge to attain riches.
Knowledge only attracts riches when it is organized and intelligently directed, through practical PLANS OF ACTION, to that DEFINITE END. Lack of understanding of this fact has been the source of confusion to millions of people who falsely believe that “knowledge is power.” It is nothing of the sort! Knowledge is only potential power. It becomes power only when, and if, it is organized into definite plans of action, and directed to a definite end.
Today’s education systems still fail to teach the “missing link” HOW TO ORGANIZE AND USE KNOWLEDGE AFTER THEY ACQUIRE IT.
Hill sights Henry Ford who was accused of being an ‘uneducated pacifist’ in the media, who proved that he was an educated man who could organize a master mind group which could answer any question posed to him at the push of a button.
It is relevant to look at the derivation of educate, the word is derived from the Latin word “educo,” meaning to educe, to draw out, to DEVELOP FROM WITHIN. An educated man is not, necessarily, one who has an abundance of general or specialized knowledge. An educated man is one who has so developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire anything he wants, or its equivalent, without violating the rights of others. Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie and many others, who only had limited formal education, come well within the meaning of this definition.
A further reason for the majority of people not taking full advantage of general knowledge is that in today’s education systems every child is taught this for free, thus there is little enthusiasm on the learner’s part to take full advantage of what is available.
If we turn now to Specialized Knowledge, this is not freely available and must be acquired at some cost, either through trade training, night schooling or research. Since a cost is involved much more attention is paid to that which is being taught or researched. A person with this specialized knowledge is highly sought after not necessarily by a single person or group but large corporations who wish to harness to knowledge for the attainment of riches.
Henry Ford and Andrew Carnegie would good examples of this where they used their Master Mind Group to bring about the development of the ford car and a steel corporation.
Hill sights several examples, where acquisition of specialized knowledge, due to a change of personal circumstance, has lead to the development of new business ventures. The lady who developed a business from the preparation of a plan, for her son to acquire a position, initially higher up the ladder of promotion, within the Company where he desired to work. The documentation, from this original plan, lead to a business for the marketing a personal services.
Throughout my life I have sought specialized knowledge, unfortunately, as a green I have had to have the whole picture before applying the knowledge obtained. I am learning though that this knowledge when harnessed to desires, coupled with immediate action is leading to much more being attained and moving me away from “procrastination” which has held me back in the past. I still have failures but I learn from them and move forward.

We have access to General Knowledge and Specialized Knowledge - 2 kinds of knowledge. Yet only Specialized Knowledge is the basis of our earning a living or acquiring wealth.
We can look at the Chef - Specialized Knowledge in preparing food and/or pastries. Skills used in the food industry or in your home.
Mechanics - whether for bikes, passenger vehicles, heavy equipment again requires Specialized Knowledge .
Sales of any product or service requires Specialized Knowledge of the product or service.
All of the above examples can earn a good living for the individual involved and with proper financial planning wealth can be created.

The Fourth Step toward Riches
Knowledge is ONLY Potential Power, it becomes power ONLY when, and if, it is organized into definite plans of action and directed to a definite end. While going over this chapter, this time the word “Power” hit me. What kind of Power is really being talked about here. Life changing power, taking an Idea and bringing it to life with Imagination and Specialized Knowledge, with this design, this recipe I could receive riches in great quantities.
It will take Focus and Determination to refuse to compromise with life by being in a rut, wallowing in self-pity and staying in that rut! Staying in a rut of a mediocre life is demeaning and shows lack of self-worth. It becomes a Habit that becomes harder and harder to Kick! Keeping this phrase in mind will give me a hand up out of this rut: “we rise to high positions or remain at the bottom BECAUSE OF CONDITIONS WE CAN CONTROL……IF WE DESIRE TO CONTROL THEM!!!!!!
Blaming others or wallowing in self-pity only hurts ME, it’s like drinking poison and expecting the enemy to die. We are our own worst enemies most of the time! Having a DESIRE to control my reaction to these obstacles, staying positive, being consistent with my self-talk, being around the right people who will aid me (Mastermind) as opposed to giving ear, time or anything else to negative nay sayers.
The way of success is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge. As network marketers we are encouraged to read good books, that uplift, encourage, inspire and teach us. This is a continuous process, it’s called Growth. Bathing is recommended daily for the same reasons, we have to keep ourselves clean from all the negativity that surrounds us. When I stop learning, growing, improving myself as a person, I literally will die. We have to keep our minds alkalized as opposed to acidic. When the PH levels in the pool get low, bacteria starts to grow. I cannot afford to sit around and do nothing, then expect all my dreams to fall into my lap and come to fruition. It sounds rather dumb that people would really think this way, however there are millions who are living life this way!
Let this chapter make us all aware of the importance of what we are doing and WHY we are doing it! This Mastermind group and forum are great tools in helping me fight this ongoing battle, many have been blest by it. Thank you Michael and Linda and all the great thinkers and doers in this Mastermind group!

The Fourth Step Toward Riches
In this chapter, Napoleon Hill imparts his powerful insight, at great length, the distinction between General Knowledge and Specialized Knowledge, between Formal Education (miscellaneous) and Practical Information (Street Knowledge), and also between Instruction and Education.
In simple words, Knowledge is and has not Power per se. Knowledge applied is Power. This has value when it’s applied toward some worthy end with Burning Desire, Faith. When it is organized, and intelligently directed, through practical PLANS OF ACTION, to the DEFINITE END of accumulation of monetary and total wealth.
My point of view is that,
• General knowledge, the Formal Education (the organized, basic and miscellaneous ones) produces an Instructed man.
• Specialized Knowledge, the Practical Information (Street Knowledge) produces a Skilled man.
• Both Knowledge produces an Educated Man and he gets results through the assistance of his “Master Mind” group. He realizes, achieves, knows, learns, specializes, and applies the real success’s cycle: Necessity + Idea (Desire) + Specialized knowledge (Around any corner, benchmarking) + Imagination (Capability) + Opportunity + Plan + Action = Successful Business. (Upward Spiral Control)
Without doubt, an Educated Man makes possible to arouse in any person an eager want; be a good listener; be a good talker, become really interested in other people; be a Master with a Heart of Service; be a Leader; (…)
At this point, according to Napoleon Hill’s words, I know I will require to specialize my SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE of the service, product, or profession which I intend to offer in return for fortune, based upon my ability to transmute my DESIRE into its monetary wealth equivalent, through the aid of my “Teamwork” group (up and down line.)
My Personal Experiences:
Most of my specialized knowledge was acquired, during my school years, from Parents, Teachers and Friends for watching, observing, talking, street-knowledge via unsophisticated benchmarking, (…) I had the opportunity to grow close to Our Mother Earth’s beauty. My father and I enjoyed to wake up early and watch the sunrise among the mountains meanwhile both of us were ride in bicycle before to open his store. My mother and I delighted to watch the sundown meanwhile she read her dressmaker’s lessons or a book or just listened to music.
During my life I have applied these knowledge and transmitted to my loved ones. I love every aspect related to eco-ethical-aesthetic concerns. Nowadays, already in the Network Marketing Business, for sure, I will follow the same path. I am focused to apply all of these experiences, specifically the management ones, in order to be a Net-worker, doing what I love to do, achieve my financial freedom, living a life with positive simplicity, teaching my experiences, and being a kind of Counselor with with a Heart of Service
