Think & Grow Rich
Chapter13.  The Brain (Review)

THE BROADCASTING AND RECEIVING STATION FOR THOUGHT
THE TWELFTH STEP TOWARD RICHES

Think of what Hill says as the Brain being a sending
and receiving station for us and the thoughts of others.  Hill
suggests that the frequency of vibration of thought received
by the brain can be likened to that of radio waves coming into
a radio and being converted to a frequency of vibration to
which human ears can receive.

Hill goes on to say, the “Creative Imagination” is the
RECEIVING SET of the brain (see imagination, Ch 6).

The mind is stepped up in its ABILITY to send and receive
thought through positive or negative emotions.  It is our
thoughts at a high rate of vibration caused by emotion that
is carried from one brain to another (see the lists of
emotions in Ch 12).

The subconscious mind is the SENDING STATION of the
brain.  Thought is received by the creative imagination
good or bad and is processed and sent by the
subconscious mind to the conscious mind where we
physically implement the content of the positive or
negative thought to either help or hinder us.

Hill says consider now, “voluntary” AUTOSUGGESTION
where we broadcast from our conscious mind by
repetition of thought and emotion to our receiving set
“Creative Imagination”, which over time with practice
will be transferred form our subconscious back to our
conscious mind where we will manifest our desire into
a physical reality.  By the way involuntary
autosuggestion will have results as well, so be
cautious of what you think.  Be awake to negative
self-talk.

The forces we are talking about here are intangibles.
Hill says, “Sometimes men speak lightly of the
intangibles— the things which they cannot perceive
through any of their FIVE SENSES, and when we
hear them, it should remind us that all of us are
controlled by forces which are unseen and intangible.”
Gravity for example which suspends the earth in the
heavens and keeps man from falling off, the force
that cause the tides etc…all intangible.  Hill goes on
to describe more of the “INTANGIBLE” forces of
nature that men have yet to truly understand.  Hill,
“Nor is this by any means the end of man’s ignorance in
connection with things unseen and intangible.  Last, but
not least, man, with all of his boasted culture and
education, understands little or nothing of the intangible
force (the greatest of all the intangibles) of thought.”

Throughout this book we are dealing with the intangible
forces of thought…Desire, Faith, Autosuggestion,
Imagination, Planning, Decision, Persistence, Master Mind,
Sex Transmutation Subconscious Mind, Brain, Sixth Sense
and Fear, trying to understand best we can and harness
the energy of thought to aid us in…

THE FIVE LAWS OF STRATOSPHERIC SUCCESS
From:  “The Go-Giver” by Bob Burg & John David Mann

THE LAW OF VALUE
Your true worth is determined by how much more you
give in value than you take in payment.

THE LAW OF COMPENSATION
Your income is determined by how many people you
serve and how well you serve them.

THE LAW OF INFLUENCE
Your influence is determined by how abundantly you
place other people’s interests first.

THE LAW OF AUTHENTICITY
The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.

THE LAW OF RECEPTIVITY
The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

Assessing Your Own Leadership Skills

Assessing Your Own Leadership Skills

by John Maxwell

When I was a kid, every once in a while my parents would back my brother, Larry, and I up to a doorframe, lay a ruler across our heads, and mark a line with a pencil to chart our growth. They would then write the date next to it. It was always exciting to see how much I'd grown since my last measurement.

If only measuring our effectiveness as a leader was so easy. Why is it so hard to get a clear picture of our own strengths and weaknesses?

Self-evaluation means:
* Being willing to critique myself.

* Asking for and accepting honest feedback from those who can most accurately assess our leadership-those who follow us.

* Exercising self-discipline.

This last point is perhaps the hardest. I define self-control, in the beginning of life, as the choice of achieving what I really want by doing things I really don't want to do. Once this becomes a habit, discipline becomes the choice of achieving what I really want by doing the very things I now want to do! I really believe that a disciplined life becomes a joy – but only after we have worked hard to practice it.

All great leaders have understood that their number one responsibility is cultivating their own discipline and personal growth. Those who cannot lead themselves cannot lead others.
Here's what I call the START plan for becoming a disciplined leader.

* START ON YOURSELF - We'd all rather focus on changing everyone else to conform to us. The only problem with that is we end up with an organization full of people who reflect our weaknesses!

* START EARLY - I'm grateful for parents who taught me the value of a disciplined lifestyle early on.

* START SMALL - A simple plan will more likely bear fruit than anything elaborate will. Remember the value of small things, consistently practiced over time, in transforming a life.

* START NOW - The will to prepare is more important than the will to succeed. The dream to succeed, apart from the will to prepare, is simply wishful thinking.

* START ORGANIZED - Those who take time to organize have a special power. Organizational skills allow for the possibility of gaining stamina and momentum as your successes build. You gain a reputation as the person who always follows through.

Now that you've started down the road of self-evaluation, receiving constructive criticism, and self-discipline, you're ready to determine where you are as an effective leader.

The Great Challenge of Life by Jim Rohn

The Great Challenge of Life by Jim Rohn

Here's the great challenge of life - You can have more than you've got because you can become more than you are.

I have found that income seldom will exceed your own personal development. Once in a while income takes a lucky jump, but unless you grow out to where it is, it will go back to where you are. Somebody once said if you took all the money in the world and divided it among everyone equally; it would soon be back in the same pockets. However, you can have more because you can become more. You see, here is how the other side of the coin reads - unless you change how you are, you will always have what you've got. The marketing plan won't do it. It 's a good plan but it won't work without you. You've got to work it. It is the human effort that counts. If you could send a sales manual out to recruit - wouldn't that be lovely? The major thing that makes the difference is what YOU do.

In order to have more, you need to become more. The guy says "If I had a good job I would really pour it on, but I have this lousy job so I just goof off." If that is your philosophy, you are destined to stay there. Some people say if I had a lot of money I would be really generous, but I don't have much so I'm not generous. See, you've got to change that philosophy or you will never have "the lots of money." Unless YOU change, IT won't change. Amazingly, however, when we throw out our blame list and start becoming more ourselves - the difference is everything else will begin to change around us.
