Chapter 8, DECISION
The Mastery of Procrastination
Procrastination, the lack of decision, is a common enemy which practically every man/woman must conquer.
Mr. Hill writes, " The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for their needs are generally,
easily influenced by the 'opinions' of others. They permit the newspapers and the 'gossipping' neighbors to do
their 'thinking' for them. 'Opinions' are the cheapest commodities on earth. Everyone has a flock of opinions
to be wished upon anyone who will accept them. If you are influenced by 'opinions' when you reach decisions,
you will not succeed in any undertaking, much less in that of transmuting your own desire into money.
If you are influenced by the opinions of others, you will have no desire of your own.
Keep your own counsel, when you begin to put into practice the principles described here, by reaching your
own decisions, and following them. Take no one into your confidence, except the members of your 'Master-
Mind' group, and be very sure in your selection of this group, that you choose only those who will be in complete
sympathy and harmony with your purpose.
Close friends and relatives, while not meaning to do so, often handicap one through 'opinions' and sometimes
through ridicule, which is meant to be humorous. Thousands of men and women carry inferiority complexes
with them all through life, because some well-meaning, but ignorant person destroyed their confidence through
'opinions' or ridicule.
You have a brain and mind of your own. Use it, and reach your own decisions. If you need facts or information
from other people, to enable you to reach decisions, as you probably will in many instances; acquire these facts
or secure the information you need quietly, without disclosing your purpose.
In your search for the  "secret" of the method, do not look for a miracle, because you will not find it. You will only
the eternal laws of NATURE. These laws are available to every person who has the 'faith and courage' to use them.
They may be used to bring freedom to a nation, or to accumulate riches. There is no charge, save the time
neccessary to understand and appropiate them."
After reading and re-reading several parts of this chapter this time, I am seeing WHY i have made most of the
decisions in my life by the wrong influences-my family and so-called friends who so willing offered THEIR opinions
to me. These people was not in complete 'harmony and sympathy' with my purpose.
As I/we, continue to build our networking marketing business, we must be very careful who we confide in about
the building, the activities and the business portion of it, that they will be a part of our 'Master-Mind' group.
Also, as I/we continue to build, I believe that we need to be in complete sympathy and harmony with the
Infinite Intelligence, which means that we have to forgive those well meaning people that thought that they was
helping us as will as asking for forgiveness for ourselves for doing the same thing to someone else. Remember also,
even if we just 'think it', it could be a sin. So let's keep ALL of our thoughts in the positive nature. My mother always
said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." I believe this goes as well for our thoughts.
With many 'thanks' to all who have 'Master-Minded' this great group,

Decision
Once again we have come to this chapter, the one I was struggling with so often, because I have been taught that decisions must be sound to stay unchanged and, therefore, it takes time to check all information and different viewpoints.
This is right for decisions in management, but in my personal life I should have done all this already. As a consequence there is no reason to not...
“reach a decision promptly and change it, if at all, only very slowly.”
What's my own experience with it so far?
When I checked out the Mental Cleanse Programme I promptly reached the decision to participate in it and to stop inhaling all those horrible news.
Furthermore I not only came up with the decision, which by the way isn't changed for four years now, I put it into action immediately.
Since then I am glad to have good support from my family. Actually nobody in my home does miss the evening news or the crap (shows, soap operas etc.) presented on TV. If we hang around this gadget we're enjoying a good movie on DVD.
Up to now I didn't regret my decision. This feeling of freedom coming with it is intensified whenever I run into people “discussing” (it's more like they are sharing their fear or enhancing their bad mood) some particular news of the day.
Of course they are amazed I don't know about this special issue...
“But you have to know about it!” they typically say.
“No. Why? What would it help me?” is my reply.
Then there is no real answer of their own, nothing beyond the typical “one has to be informed” and blablabla.
In this moment I am generally changing the subject or simply leave them alone in their enjoyment of bad feelings.
When listening to the recorded MFF calls I reached another decision, the one to really participate in this programme by writing my own lessons.
Thanks Bob and Anna for the gorgeous question in one of those calls: “How can I recommend the Mental Cleanse if I haven't been active in it by myself?”
It struck me as if this call was made for me, it was my wake-up call.
So I started immediately, following the advice I took from Richard Dennis, to set aside some minutes every morning to read five to ten pages (actually I have read a pile of books since then).
Of course it took me some time to make writing the lesson a habit. The trick that worked for me was reserving a certain time on every Sunday. And now I am enjoying it, especially when I compare my lessons I wrote over the time. Then I recognize how much more I have taken out of Hill's book and I really do NOT feel any need of changing that decision.
Thanks Michael for making the Mental Cleanse the best never ending story ever.

The Key to Influencing Others by Brian Tracy

The Key to Influencing Others by Brian Tracy

Do nice things for others. One of the best ways to influence someone is to do something nice for him. I know many successful salespeople who make a habit of taking their prospects out to breakfast or lunch. During the breakfast or lunch, they do not talk about their products or services unless the client brings it up. They merely make small talk, ask questions and listen. They work on building trust, and they work on establishing a friendly relationship. At the end of the breakfast or lunch, they tell the prospect that they will be getting in touch with him sometime in the future with the possibility of talking to him about helping him in some way.

See them as friends and partners. The best salespeople and businesspeople in America today are those who look upon their customers and prospective customers as friends and partners. They always look for ways to help their partners improve their lives in ways that are not directly related to the products or services they sell. They sow seeds, and they reap a harvest. They trigger a desire in people to reciprocate. When the time comes for those salespeople to approach their prospects with the possibility of buying their products or services, the prospects are wide open to the questions and inputs of the salespeople. The prospects have a deep-down desire to reciprocate.

Send thank-you notes. One of the best ways to use this principle in your interactions is to continually look for ways to say and do positive things for people. Look for ways to do kind acts and favors for your friends and prospects. Send thank-you notes. Send birthday cards. Send clippings from newspapers about subjects that you feel may be of interest to them. Always keep your promises, and follow up on your commitments. Always do what you say you will do. Do everything possible to put in, knowing confidently that you will ultimately be able to get out far more. You will reap if you sow.

Be a go-giver rather than a go-getter. Someone has observed that no one ever built a statue to a person to acknowledge what he or she got out of life. Statues are built only to people to acknowledge what they gave. The most powerful, influential and successful people you will ever meet always look for ways to do nice things for others. When you meet someone under almost any circumstance, one of the best questions you can ask is this: “Is there anything that I can do for you?” Always look for ways to put in rather than to take out. The successful man or woman of today is a “go-giver” as well as a go-getter.

Be open and empathetic. The more that people feel that you are open and empathetic and sensitive to their needs and concerns, the more open they will be to your influencing them positively in some way. And the more you can influence others with the power and impact of your personality, the more you will accomplish, and the faster you will accomplish it—the more rapidly you will move toward the great success that you desire and deserve.

From Jim Rohn’s newsletter, a wonderful article from Brian Tracy on the power of influence of others.
