The power to change our lives. Thoughts are things powerful things.

Mentor Ben Drake

The phrase “thoughts are things” is a powerful and often-cited concept, particularly in the realm of personal development, positive psychology, and some spiritual philosophies. It suggests that our thoughts have a tangible impact on our reality, shaping our experiences and influencing our outcomes. Here’s a breakdown of the idea:

Interpretations and Implications:

 * Influence on Actions:

   * Our thoughts drive our emotions, which in turn influence our actions. If you consistently think positive, proactive thoughts, you’re more likely to take positive, proactive actions. Conversely, negative thoughts can lead to inaction, fear, and self-sabotage.

 * This aligns with the idea of self-efficacy: believing you can achieve something increases your likelihood of actually achieving it.

 * The Law of Attraction:

* This concept, popularized by books like “The Secret,” suggests that like attracts like. Positive thoughts attract positive experiences, and negative thoughts attract negative experiences.

 * Critics argue that this interpretation can oversimplify complex situations and promote victim-blaming, but it does highlight the importance of mindset.

 * Mental Focus and Attention:

 * What we focus on tends to expand in our awareness. If we constantly dwell on problems, we’re more likely to perceive more problems. If we focus on solutions and opportunities, we’re more likely to find them.

 * Our thoughts can direct our attention, and our attention determines what we perceive in the world around us.

 * The Power of Belief:

   * Our beliefs shape our reality. If we believe we can accomplish something, we’re more likely to put in the effort and persevere through challenges. If we believe we’re destined to fail, we’re more likely to give up.

   * Placebo effect, and related studies, show how strong beliefs about a treatment can cause real, measurable changes in the body.

 * Neuroplasticity:

   * From a scientific perspective, the idea that “thoughts are things” can be linked to neuroplasticity. Our brains are constantly rewiring themselves based on our experiences and thoughts. Repeated thoughts and mental patterns create neural pathways, making those thoughts more likely to occur in the future.

Important Considerations:

 * While thoughts are powerful, they are not the sole determinant of reality. External circumstances, chance, and other people’s actions also play significant roles.

 * It’s crucial to distinguish between positive thinking and toxic positivity. Positive thinking involves maintaining a hopeful and optimistic outlook while acknowledging challenges. Toxic positivity, on the other hand, dismisses or invalidates negative emotions.

 * The concept of “thoughts are things” should not be used to blame individuals for their misfortunes.

In essence, the phrase emphasizes the significant influence of our mental landscape on our lives. While not a literal statement of physical manifestation, it highlights the power of mindset, focus, and belief in shaping our experiences.

Our family and intermitt associates or those who we are most around plays a big part in our beliefs and thoughts as a person. We may need to find people who have a stronger positive attitude than those who we have been around for years and work on a solution to the problems which we can be focused on.

Growing up it was shown to focus on the problem which had our time and efforts right then. We can learn so much from our family and friends who may walk away from the problems they face. They are unprepared to face the problems and challenges wh8ch have occurred.

For years I’ve taken on others view of my health challenges as my own problem when often it’s had to do with their problems. Like my parents own struggle and my fathers inability to accept dependents who were doing everything they could to set up their own lives.

There are so many great personal development books and experts who can help You overcome the destructive thoughts and create those positive thoughts. The great Napoleon Hill, Jim Rohn, Bob proctor, Tom “Big Al” Schreiter, Linda and Michael dlouhy are just a few.
