Times have changed.

The following is from Success in 10 steps by Michael Dlouhy, a wonderful article on that times have changed so much. That people expect something for nothing and that these days their are less close relationships with others. Times certainly have changed since was young. Yet these days its very much a society of behind closed doors, that we keep so much to ourselves.

In some families barely anyone talks to each other and families barely get together anymore. Its a sign of the times that relationships have fallen apart owing to work, money and a job. That there was no bond their initially. That everyone is working so hard to make a living that they have barely any time left to spend with others anymore.

We live in a society which expects it now and that it will happen without any work too. Yet the thing is that to succeed you have to work hard at your own goal. Working towards your own success, people are either too unorganized to get it done or too scared. They may even be both.

The Bad News

It’s ironic.

Words assault us from every direction, all day long.

But people talk with each other less than ever.

We can name every character on “Friends.”

But we can’t name the family who lives 2 doors down.

People demand, "What’s in it for ME?"

Then they get all cynical about human nature when nobody stops to help them fix a flat.

Big newspapers & TV networks publicly swear by “truth”.

But the truth is, winning a Pulitzer Prize justifies any lie.

Big corporations spend a ton on integrated planning and coordination.

But many would join a cult before they’d spend a nickel on human na- ture.

Direct Marketing gurus call network marketing a rip-off.

And yet, if you were a fly on the wall when those boys get together, you’d hear them joke with each other about what idiots their own buyers are, and how easy it is to shear those sheep.

If you want to shear sheep, you’re in the wrong place.

If you want the “sit back, do nothing, get rich, we’ll do all the work for you" plan, I’m not your guy.

Overcoming your own barriers

The following is from Jim Rohn’s newsletter by Cynthia Kersey on getting over the barriers and saying this is my own time.

Get Past the Former Excuses
by Cynthia Kersey

Choose once and for all to get past all of the former excuses that stopped you from achieving your goal or dream and step into your power by saying: "This is my time, my life, my moment of truth. I will not stop until I achieve my goal!"

Realizing that being unstoppable is simply a decision that you make every day, every hour, or sometimes every minute gives you the awareness that it is a choice.
And every time you choose to honor your commitment and take a single step, you are honoring yourself and exercising your self-discipline muscle. With each step you take, that muscle will grow stronger and stronger, making it easier to bring about change in your life.

Your time is now. Make a pledge to yourself that you are fully committed to reaching your goal.

From Jim Rohn’s Newsletter on the power of getting over those past experiences.

Your choice of words

The following is from Jim Rohn on expressing yourself through words and the words which you use to express yourself as a person.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn

Words/Vocabulary

The two great words of antiquity are behold and beware. Behold the possibilities and beware the temptations.

Vocabulary enables us to interpret and to express. If you have a limited vocabulary, you will also have a limited vision and a limited future.

Well chosen words mixed with measured emotions is the basis of affecting people.

It’s okay to send flowers, but don’t let the flowers do all the talking. Flowers have a limited vocabulary. About the best flowers can say is that you remembered. But your words tell the rest.

Words do two major things: They provide food for the mind and create light for understanding and awareness.

“Vitamins for the Mind” is a weekly sampling of original quotes on a specific topic taken from The Treasury of Quotes by Jim Rohn. The burgundy hardbound book with gold-foil lettering is a collection of more than 365 quotes on 60 topics gathered from Jim’s personal journals, seminars and books and spanning more than 40 years. Living in that moment.

From Jim Rohn’s newsletter on being there as a person and being present as a person. Not being lost in the moment being focused on what is going on rite at that point and living in the moment. Also living a life and being able to do things you’ve always wanted as a person.

Wherever You Are, Be There
by Jim Rohn

One of the major reasons why we fail to find happiness or to create unique lifestyle is because we have not yet mastered the art of being.

While we are home our thoughts are still absorbed with solving the challenges we face at the office. And when we are at the office we find ourselves worrying about problems at home.

We go through the day without really listening to what others are saying to us. We may be hearing the words, but we aren't absorbing the message.

As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past experiences or future possibilities. We are so involved in yesterday and tomorrow that we never even notice that today is slipping by.

We go through the day rather than getting something from the day. We are everywhere at any given moment in time except living in that moment in time.

Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are. It is developing a unique focus on the current moment, and drawing from it all of the substance and wealth of experience and emotions that it has to offer. Lifestyle is taking time to watch a sunset. Lifestyle is listening to silence. Lifestyle is capturing each moment so that it becomes a new part of what we are and of what we are in the process of becoming. Lifestyle is not something we do; it is something we experience. And until we learn to be there, we will never master the art of living well.
