Lesson from chapter 1 Thoughts are things

Chapter 1 Introduction - Thoughts are things lesson

The man who thought his way into Partnership with Thomas A Edison

Thoughts are things and truly powerful things, recently whist doing own motivational quotes this one came across via email from Brian Tracy. It was appropriate to this weeks lesson on thoughts are things. It describes the entire philosophy of thing and grow rich.

"Remember, the thoughts that you think and the statements you make regarding yourself determine your mental attitude. If you have a worthwhile objective, find the one reason why you can achieve it rather than hundreds of reasons why you can't."

Napoleon Hill
1883-1970, Author of Think and Grow Rich

This quote certainly rang true in relation to what has been going on over these last few months. That have had a number experiences, some of which had been years since done something’s. Anyway this last Sunday I went to the Easter Show in Sydney with Jenny and Mum, its been years since I was able to even do that.

However the truly wonderful thing was being able to go on those rides knowing that would be ok and safe. For years I was too scared of hurting back more so stopped going on those rides, the amusement rides for many years. I lost myself in own health owing to being unable to do those things loved most such as the roller coasters and white water rapid rides. Which used to do when went to an amusement park.

It has taken a number of years to be able to feel that was able to do such. Knowing that would be safe and that whatever happened was meant to happen. One of the things that even struck home the most was that I went into the relationship with Jenny knowing full well what was seeking and that wanted to start own family. That I would accomplish this no matter how long it takes, now I entered such with the intention of getting married and having kids. I will even accomplish such.

Its taken years to find someone who was able to feel that bond with and being that upfront with didn’t scare at all. It was a journey, yet the lovely thing was that own success was hidden just beyond a former relationship. Strangely enough that person said goodbye to me the same nite that Jenny agreed to meet me. As I had said to my then best friend at the time it means something better is around the corner.

Hours after that phone call a message arrived with Jenny’s yes and her contact details. That moved our friendship from there, to arranging a meeting for a cuppa and sitting down on a local beach talking about what we were looking for from a relationship. Yet from there things grew stronger and moved to where we are together. Its truly amazaing what programming your own mind for success can do for you.

Thank you to Michael, Willena and Ken for your guidance, love, support, encouragement and so much more as a person. To the wonderful mental cleanse participants thank you for your wonderful inspiring lessons which assist in the journey to a better life.

Abundent love, hugs and health.

Trusting your instincts and getting good advice

A powerful article from John Maxwell as appeared in Jim Rohn’s newsletter on the power of trusting those who have gone before you and and your confidents.
Sometimes we do need to learn to trust these people, yet to also realise those people who are unable to be trusted or are unable to be a confident as that person
may be lacking in the experience to provide you with the rite advice as a person. Some people give the wrong advice and end up in a mess. Yet you have to trust
your instincts and know weather its rite or wrong.

When bouncing ideas off people in your organisation you have to ensure that the people are going to give you good advice which quite often only comes from
experience as my mentor Michael Dlouhy says, would you go to someone who has only been married for 5 years when you have been married 40 years or would
you go to someone who has been married 45 to 50 years. I’d go to someone who’s been married longer. Where would you go?

Trusting Your Intuitive Instincts

by John C. Maxwell

There is a certain element of risk in intuitive leadership, but that is the very nature of leadership. André Gide said, “One doesn't discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.” A neglect of cultivating intuition results from doing what is safe and secure. I can't think of very many things of value that are won by staying safe and secure.

While leaning on your intuition is a leadership advantage, it can also be a weakness.  You'll gain the trust of others when your intuitions lead to good decisions. And you'll forfeit trust when you fail because you continually ignore the wise advice of those around you. Robert Heller said, “Never ignore a great feeling, but never believe that it's enough.” Great leaders learn to trust the intuition of their confidantes as well.

Here are some steps I've developed for tapping into my intuitive instincts:

1. Write down the issue at hand.
2. Identify as many options as possible.
3. Pull away from the process and pray.
4. Start playing out consequences of your options, eliminating them one by one.
5. Bounce a couple of your top options off of wise people both inside and outside your organization.
6. Do a heart check. This involves looking at:
- My motive: “Why am I doing this?”
- My responsibility:  ‘Should I be doing this?”
- My emotional status: “Can I feel right about doing this?”
7. Make a decision.
8. Hold to that decision.

Jim Rohn on keeping a journal

A very powerful article from Jim on the power of making sure you capture the event, the lessons, the photos and making sure that you take note of those lessons. Having learnt
about journals as an adult, it would be used as a dream book of what really wanted from life and even about what was going on at that point. However it can also be used as Jim
states to capture those important lessons and things that you learn from the training or event. So its nice to be able to capture the event and come back to remember such,
weather its a photo of a recent trip, a training course or otherwise.

Keeping a Journal

by Jim Rohn

If you're serious about becoming a wealthy, powerful, sophisticated, healthy, influential, cultured and unique individual, keep a journal. Don't trust your memory. When you listen to something valuable, write it down. When you come across something important, write it down.

I am a buyer of blank books. Kids find it interesting that I would buy a blank book. They say, “Twenty-six dollars for a blank book! Why would you pay that?” The reason I pay twenty-six dollars is to challenge myself to find something worth twenty-six dollars to put in there. All my journals are private, but if you ever got a hold of one of them, you wouldn't have to look very far to discover it is worth more than twenty-six dollars. I must admit, if you got a glimpse of my journals, you'd have to say that I am a serious student. I'm not just committed to my craft, I'm committed to life, committed to learning new concepts and skills. I want to see what I can do with seed, soil, sunshine and rain to turn them into the building blocks of a productive life.

Keeping a journal is so important. I call it one of the three treasures to leave behind for the next generation.  In fact, future generations will find these three treasures far more valuable than your furniture.

The first treasure is your pictures. Take a lot of pictures. Don't be lazy in capturing the event. How long does it take to capture the event? A fraction of a second. How long does it take to miss the event? A fraction of a second. So don't miss the pictures. When you're gone, they'll keep the memories alive.

The second treasure is your library. This is the library that taught you, that instructed you, that helped you defend your ideals. It helped you develop a philosophy. It helped you become wealthy, powerful, healthy, sophisticated, and unique. It may have helped you conquer some disease. It may have helped you conquer poverty. It may have caused you to walk away from the ghetto. Your library, the books that instructed you, fed your mind and fed your soul, is one of the greatest gifts you can leave behind.

The third treasure is your journals: the ideas that you picked up, the information that you meticulously gathered. But of the three, journal writing is one of the greatest indications that you're a serious student. Taking pictures, that is pretty easy. Buying a book at a book store, that's pretty easy. It is a little more challenging to be a student of your own life, your own future, your own destiny. Take the time to keep notes and to keep a journal. You'll be so glad you did. What a treasure to leave behind when you go. What a treasure to enjoy today!

The power of the people from Jim Rohn

A very powerful article from Jim Rohn on the power of the people.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn

Government/Debate

One of the great liberal documents of the world is the Declaration of Independence. One of the most conservative documents of the world is the Constitution of the United States. We need both documents to build a country. One to get it started - liberal. And the other to help maintain the structure over the years - conservative.

An ancient script says, “Would you let a man rule the city who cannot even rule his own spirit?” Sometimes we do.

Taxes are our way of feeding the goose that lays the golden eggs of freedom, democracy and enterprise. Someone says, “Well, the goose eats too much.” That's probably true. But better a fat goose than no goose at all!

Tyranny knows no restraint of appetite.

Did you ever eat a government cookie? The real genius to make a marketplace flourish does not come from the government; it comes from the genius of the people.

“Vitamins for the Mind” is a weekly sampling of original quotes on a specific topic taken from The Treasury of Quotes by Jim Rohn. The burgundy hardbound book with gold-foil lettering is a collection of more than 365 quotes on 60 topics gathered from Jim’s personal journals, seminars and books and spanning more than 40 years.
