Alexander Lodi Persistance

Chapter 9 - Persistence
I have been supporting tens of people...not tons...tens so that was not a typo...with epilepsy for years now via my blog, Email and telephone support. It is said that even if some people come into our lives just for a moment, we will make some sort of impact on them to help them along their journey through life to find their purpose.
It can be trying on myself at times when I try to reach people (Get through to them) that ask for my support and their seems to be a barrier between us as some people do not want to be willing enough to speak freely about epilepsy and that in and of itself becomes their handicap until a breakthrough occurs. It takes mental toughness, a big "sticky-factor" and much persistence to assist others who have epilepsy in order to see them through the hard times.
I had a friend that I met on Epilepsy Foundation come stay with me Christmas of 2011 who had just discovered a short while ago that she has epilepsy. She would of been alone at the holidays so I graciously invited her to spend Christmas and New Years with my dad and I. After she went back home to Texas, our communication kind of diminished as she was going through more trials with her epilepsy, depression, loss of her job as a school teacher and just having a bad outlook on life over all. Even when I called her she would not pick up the phone or return my messages.
When I revised my vision board, I put her picture on it. This was about two weeks ago. Just this past Saturday - July 7th, I received this really nice text from her:
" Good morning. I know its been forever, but I've been so horridly sick that I was barely holding my head above water. I had to resign from my job and I sunk so low into the deepest darkest hole of depression known to man. But I have to tell you that when I turned it over to God, he saw me through it. I am so much better. And I'm grateful that your unwavering faith and optimism helped me get back to where I needed to be. So, when you get tired and wonder if its worth it to put yourself out there, know that you've made all the difference in the world to many because you are you."
That simple text means the world to me and no amount of money can buy the love we have for one another. That is what its all about. Persistence in its purest and simplest form will always get us through the hard times.

Ron Stewart Persistance

Well, after reading a few of the lessons here I'm not sure if I'm on the right track or not, but here goes.
I beleive persistance does get misunderstood just as Hill mentions. Some of the richest men were mistook for being cold-blooded & ruthless. I also believe persistance can be misunderstood by those trying to be persistant. For instance, someone in network marketing, sales, or any type of recruiting needs to be persistance in their actions (which is nothing more than repetition really) that is going to get them the desired results, but not become overbearing & pushy. I believe a lot of these people believe they are just being persistant when actually they are borderline harassing people. I know Hill is speaking in general in the book, bit I try to relate it to my business. So for me, this is telling me to act on my plan & repeat my actions as many times necessary until I obtain my desired results without giving in to any objections I might encounter.

David H Paul Persistance

David H. Paul

I learned a very valuable lesson this week about persistence. The lesson is that persistence, especially emotional persistence Always results in a person getting exactly what they persist in feeling. I know, this should have been common sense, because "thoughts are things", right? But, what I'm talking about is those emotions that we feel that seem to just come up out the subconscious when we can Ill afford to be thinking and acting in destructive ways. Let me illustrate.
So, this past week I have been revamping my beliefs about money. Yep, I'm gonna talk about what I used to believe was my truth about money. I used to believe that I was bad at handling money, and I demonstrated and proved, with absolute persistence, that belief in everything I did in my life related to money. Eventhough I have known for a long time I had this limiting belief about money and knew for sure that this belief would keep me stuck in mediocrity, I has applied the principle of persistence to my subconscious mind so effectively that it was still running my life.
Here is the major lesson learned…. I learned that I felt ashamed of everything I have done in my life over money, every bad decision, every foolish scheme, every ridiculous argument with my wife. I was ashamed of it all. I had applied persistence to the process of attaching shame to my liming belief about money and had locked it in place as my truth.
My friend and business partner, Colleen K. Peltomaa asked me, "David, would you be willing to give yourself praise for your amazing ability to hold onto Shame about Money?" As I let that question sink in, I start laughing, mainly at myself, because it sounded so completely ridiculous. But then it dawned on me, I Have a Skill! Wait, if I could hang onto Shame about Money with that kind of persistence, I could just a easily choose any other really strong emotion that I want to hang onto about money instead! Wow!
So, I got some help from another dear friend and coach, LaTisha Bell. From that help I have installed a New emotion about money, "I am Enthusiastic about Money." Enthusiasm has always been my most favorite positive emotion. I have always loved how easily my life and business flows and grows when I focus on freely giving with great enthusiasm. So, I am now practicing my amazing ability to apply persistence, and I am hanging onto my enthusiasm about money just as hard as I can. "I am Enthusiastic about Money." I'm doing whatever it takes to believe that, including saying it At Least 400 times a day.
To Your Peace and Prosperity,
David H. Paul, St. Cloud, MN USA
PS- Please, my friends, reach out and ask for help when it's not working, no matter how embarrassing it might seem.

Lee Lewis Peristence

Lee Lewis

"Persistence is a state of mind, therefore it can be cultivated." - Napolean Hill
That one statement of Chapter 9 of Napolean Hill's "Think & Grow Rich" was such a "wow factor" for me that it actually increased my focus on everything else said past that point in today's lesson. He also pointed out that other qualities are states of mind, which means they can be cultivated.
I first read this book in the early 70's, maybe a dozen times over the years... it seems like with the ebb & flow of life, the ups & downs, it is during the times of most difficulty that I again reach out for the solutions that self help books and Scripture have to offer. Perhaps it is in someway my own type of persistence that keeps me coming back.
This is also my first posting on this site that has to do with an assignment... it only took me a month to get around to it! My first 30 Day Mental Cleanse period may already be up, however, it took my mind awhile to calm down enough to focus on the tasks at hand.
I finally decided (it starts with a decision, doesn't it?!) to do a lesson plan. I found a quiet place, no phone, no interuptions and downloaded the chapter in text form and read it while listening simultaneously via MP3. That combination worked great for me, I would have interupted myself at least three times before finishing the chapter if I had just read it... that's the way I've been. To actually sit still long enough to read a whole chapter without eating a snack, strumming my guitar or juggling the three oranges in the fruit bowl on the table in front of me would have been a miracle.
Persistence is a state of mind that can be cultivated, IMAGINE THAT. We are actually in control of our abiltiy to be persistent. That means all we have to do to see who is in charge of our success, of our persistence, of our happiness, of our well-being and all of our other states-of-mind is to look into the mirror... there you will see the person in charge staring you in the face.
It is essential that I tell that person in charge to continue with persistence the process of becoming my own true self, to continue with persistence of releasing my true potential and to continue with persistence of fulfilling my capacity so that I may reach my highest calling, fulfill my chief purpose of life and be the rising tide that raises all ships.
Constructively yours,
Lee Lewis

David Haines

Everyone starts this journey into the Mental Cleanse with lots of past emotional baggage. Our past is like this big giant square block we’re trying to move around and it doesn’t move very smoothly. What I’ve observed and experienced is some people are trying to push it while others are trying to drag it. And it’s fricken heavy. Needless to say, our lives aren’t very fluid while we’re moving this thing around.
But here’s the beauty of the Mental Cleanse…. As we go through this process, we start to chip away at the block. We chip away the corners first, then the edges. Soon, our block starts to wobble around. We see improvement. We start getting around a little easier. Things start to look good.
Unfortunately, this is when most people quit doing it. And it can be for any number of reasons. Some people quit because they see the improvement, and figure that’s enough. Some people don’t see it as improvement at all and think that it doesn’t work. Still others chip off enough that it starts to hurt. The things they’re revealing under the chipped off pieces are painful, so they’d rather not disturb the block.
It’s those of us who have been persistent in chipping away at our block who are seeing remarkable results. We’re spending the time smoothing the edges. Rounding the corners. Is it painful? Sometimes. Is it worth it? Most definitely!!
Here’s where the magic starts happening…. After all that persistent work and saying our self-talk, what once was a big block now becomes a big ball. It rolls!! We can move it around almost effortlessly! You see, we can’t ever get rid of our past, but we can shape it into a much more manageable “thing”. The best part is that your persistence pays off when the ball just starts rolling on its own through the power of momentum. I know you’ve seen an old picture of a kid with a long stick pushing a ball along while running down the road… Well that’s what it becomes. You are in control now. And that’s what this process is all about.
Love to all!
