Chapter 2- Desire
Hill tells us “There is one quality one must possess to win,
and that is DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE, the knowledge
of what one wants and a burning desire to possess it.”
Hill also tells us “There is a difference between wishing for
a thing and being ready to receive it. No one is ready
for a thing, until he believes he can acquire it. The state
of mind must be belief, not mere hope or wish. Open mindedness
is essential for belief. Closed minds do not inspire faith, courage and belief.”
We have all at times desired something and never attained it and
never really understood why. I believe when we do not
attain our desire, that desire was not backed by belief, faith and
determination.
If we miss one of these ingredients our desire will remain a wish.
Belief is determination when you have the faith that you will succeed.
Determination helps us overcome fear, builds belief in ourselves,
gives us the will to keep trying again and again when we set a goal and
work towards it without looking back.
Failure only comes when we quit trying.
Hill also says “No more effort is required to aim high in life, to
demand abundance and prosperity, than is required
to accept misery and poverty.”
We are all in our own race and we can all win as long as we
keep going and keep our eye on the goal.
Desire cannot work alone. Desire needs belief, faith
and determination to become a reality. In other words,
definiteness of purpose.
