“What are you doing for lunch on Wednesday the 12th?”

Mentor Ben Drake

“What are you doing for lunch on Wednesday the 12th?”
I received an envelope with this message printed near my name and address:
“What are you doing for lunch on Wednesday the 12th?”
Of course I opened the envelope.
I knew I wouldn’t be in Houston on the 12th, but I was curious about what I would be missing.
I opened the envelope. This was a great first sentence or headline that prompted me to action. This would have been effective as the subject line of an e-mail or a message left on voice mail.
The point?
If we say the right things, prospects jump to action. Are you saying the right things to get your prospects to respond?
That’s why I am a student of great first sentences and headlines. So here are the first sentences and headlines for this issue:
* “Didn’t hit the genetic jackpot?”
* “Be a 100% loyal citizen on 50% of the taxes.”
* “The 3-penny migraine remedy from Europe.”
* “How your neighbor gets a secret extra paycheck every month.”
These are just a few ideas to get us thinking. More in our next issue.
Remember, first sentences are used by your competition. Everyone is vying for your prospect’s money.
